Once known as one of the best captains of the Dutch mercantile fleets, Berend Jones was also a stern man to be feared by those who crossed him. His wrath and headless pride earned the desires of the Goddess Calypso, who in short order, pulled Jones and his ship into the depths. Only through fostering her affections was Jones allowed to survive, although, he has now been charged with ferrying the souls of those lost at sea for 10 years in exchange for one day ashore with his fearsome ethereal lover.
