In truth, the self-styled "Inquisitor-Capitán" of Spain bears no official military rank or title, but he has enough backing with both the remnants of the Church and the Crown that he has been allowed to retain both his commandeered vessel and fanatical mob of a crew. His ruthlessness makes him feared by his few erstwhile allies and his numerous enemies alike, and to many in the Spanish navy he's seen as a necessary evil at best--or a rabid attack dog for the Crown at worst.
