The USRC Walter Forward, or simply, The Forward, has faithfully served the United States in varying capacities since the Mexican-American War. Though some say she is long in the tooth, and sluggish compared to newer vessels, this veteran has been dutifully carrying out commerce protection and customs interdiction from New York all the way to the Carolinas; and no one seems to complain when she comes into port, her hull bursting with confiscated valuables all in the name of the Union.
