On Nov. 28, 1717, the French frigate La Concorde was captured by notorious pirate Edward Teach. Blackbeard outfitted the vessel with an armerment of 40 guns and renamed her Queen Anne's Revenge. In 1718, Blackbeard used his powerful new flagship to blockade the port of Charleston, South Carolina, picking off ships until he was given a chest of medicine.
